In the Shoes of Jacob and Joseph

Today, has been a wonderful day. I can honestly say that it has been the best day of the year so far. Seems like this years theme has been personal revelation, and the importance to work each day to obtain it.

Ever since I choose to put my Heavenly Father first, life has been hard. In a way I thought that because I had chosen Him, he would automatically bless me with the guy of my dreams. There has been days were all I do is complain to Him, like any normal human being. But today at church I got a taste of personal revelation.

As one of the speakers gave her talk, she mentioned 4 steps, and the one that stuck to me the most was Consistency. Then she said the following: after we choose His path most of us expect something back in return right away, but we forget "that we have not been doing the right things long enough". Those words stuck to me like glue. They kept playing in my mind, and then I realized that those words are right. For the longest time I put Him second to last, and I could not expect that within in a week, month or two years would be enough.

And then later in Sunday school we talked about Jacob and his son Joseph. And how they were always faithful men to our Heavenly Father, by putting Him first and following his commandments. Jacob worked so many years to get he woman that he loved, Rachel, and at the end he got the sister, but he loved Rachel so much that he was willing to keep working and accepted what his father in heaven had for him. Until the years went by again and he finally married the woman he always loved. With her, he had a son, a son who was also faithful and accepted the life with the trials that came. He got sold by his brothers to slavery. In which he saw blessings after time, until his masters wife tried to have him lay with her, he got thrown into prison, in which more trials of his faith came by.

I am very thankful for what I learned from this talk and lesson. And yes, I didn't get the guy of my dreams after letting go of what was not right for me and didn't fit with the plans that Heavenly Father has for me. But I know that if I stay close to Him, keep His commandments the best way I can, He will bless me with what fits with His plans. My job now is to live a faithful and humble life, let Him be the one that leads the way. Accept His plan for me and love Him the way He loves me. And like the song says: "You know better than I, You know the way, I've let go the need to know why, I'll take the answers you supply, for You know better than I."
